Hokkeji Temple, the leading nunnery associated with Empress Komyo, holds the Hinaeshiki (Girls' Festival) every year from April 1st to 7th. During this time, the main image, the Eleven-Headed Kannon Bodhisattva (National Treasure), is open to the public, and 55 statues of Zenzai Doji are enshrined in front of it.  Offerings are made daily, and a memorial service takes place. The Zenzai Doji statues are said to represent the original form of the tiered display of Hina dolls, hence the name "Hinaeshiki."*The memorial service's timing may vary depending on the date, and it may not be open to the public.*Details are subject to change depending on the situation.** For more information, please visit the official Hokkeji Temple website.
